Students of CNA-GNA collaborated with ATA (Applied Trades Academy) to complete vitals practice. Vitals can range from taking temperature, blood pressure, ear examinations, eye examinations, etc. In this skills practice students primarily focus on temperature and blood pressure.
One of Skills practiced was conducting a temperature reading. In order to complete this, the CNA inserted a probe cover onto the thermometer. Once the cover was attached, the student was asked to hold the probe underneath their tongue. Once the thermometer got the reading, students recorded the temperature.
Another Skill practiced was taking blood pressure. In order to get a proper reading, you must have your arm on a flat surface. From there, the cuff tightly gets placed around the arm. As it pumps it will tighten so if you want to get a reading you must release some pressure from the cuff.
