UPDATE 5: 11/30/23

UPDATE 6: 1/24/24
This month, I have started art for the opening of the book, detailing the creation myth of Drivherskonn. This depicts Furyodishumnee, the green humanoid, Oosdreespir, the mammalian creature, overthrowing Ushvoidel, the mud, as king of Drivherskonn. Along with that I started art for a species called the Achid, a pig-like creature. Both of these pieces were especially frustrating as it is difficult to color with the pen type I used, and texturing hair is always a pain.
I also began art for the anatomy of a Huldyad, and how it compares to a human, currently I have both a full body and head diagram, depicting its physical appearance, skeletal system, muscular system, and “root” system, a collection of vine like structures the replace the marrow in the bones. This one has honestly been the most enjoyable of the pieces this month as it didn’t need any framing of positioning, just a guy.
I then continued my work on their writing system, adding the word for numbers 1-12 and deciding that Huldyads count by twelves, using the knuckles on their four fingers on the left hand, then marking 12 on the right by counting the knuckles on that hand.
I finally continued working on the map, continuing to add a massive number of islands. Here I have found my hubris as looking back on half of these, I have little to no idea if something is marking an island, a river, or a lake.
UPDATE 8: 3/29/24
I began putting in more diagrams of their life cycle and stages of life, where a “Mother” Huldyad turns into a tree to produce a seed that sprouts a baby. Covered in fur, before losing as they age, when that first hair is lost their early antlers are cut off, and their head is covered until their hair is neck length and their antlers can be styled, then by adulthood they simply continue growing and developing their antlers further.
I then completed the islands on the map, now I’m only working on pacing rivers and mountains and stuff like that. Along with that I’ve continued making illustrations for they Huldyads creation myth, depicting Furyodishumnee creating the first plants.
Outside of my project, I’ve been working in concept Art for Cam’s Project, creating the design for one villain’s faction.
UPDATE 8: 5/9/24
This month has probably been the hardest I’ve worked consistently this entire year. I’ve completed 5 art pieces.
First was a depiction of a large shark like arthropod eating a mammalian type animal, as two other creatures flee from the sudden movement. this is meant to show that the southern most part of the continent, arthropods are the dominants group among animals.
The second is a house that a common Huldyad would live in, made from a number of live trees, woven fibers, and clay.
The third was a Mountain monastery, where three Druids are preforming ceremony for a fourth huldyad. this is meant to show the religious part of living with huldyads.
The fourth similarly showed the religious part of there life, with a family of Huldyads sitting praying at a statue of Furyodishumnee.
The fifth of this set is a quick illustration of what the other regions think of those living in the Northern most part of the continent, as sort of a Bigfoot or elf like characters.
the sixth is the complete diagram of their life stages
