I wanted to do Interactive Media because I love designing and creating graphic design. Got into interactive media in 2020 when quarantine started in late February. Though I knew nothing What I’m thinking about doing is creating a graphic design & motion graphics video that will explain what I enjoy doing in Interactive Media. After high school, I plan on taking an arts college that does designs and creativity.

Capstone Idea
I’m part of a motion graphic community with some of my friends and we create multiple projects. They use Adobe After Effects which is an industrial and professional motion graphics program. Throughout the time we’ve had this group, I used an application known as Video Star; which is a mobile application on my phone.
To prepare myself for a career in motion graphics and elevate my knowledge to the industry standard program, my Capstone will revolve around creating motion graphics from scratch in Adobe After Effects.
Update #3
One week later, I learned how to create transitions on After Effects and was able to create my own transitions. I was also able to use solid colors to create color trails for the transitions. The most important part of transitions is keyframes. The keyframe is part of this process because its how movement is made in After Effects. It can be used in Effects, Scale, Rotation, Opacity, and Position.
Update #4
I started to use geometric techniques to create 3D Effects and made lots of pre-compositions. It is important to have your compositions sorted and recognized. Last week, I installed a graph extension that allows me to customize graphs for anchor point or positions. This allows me to have smoother movements and better graphing.
Update #5 (1-24-24)
Today I learned how use and create masks and cut out items in Adobe. Any thing can be cut out of a project in order to create a mask. I’m also using blending which is very helpful for coloring and shade. The motions I use for After Effects are from an extension called Flow. It is used to create graphs and create customs graphs for paths and positions. Just a reminder the Flow extension does cost money.
Update #6 (1-29-24)
I’ve learned a lot of 3D stuff like 3D tunnels and other geometric shapes in After Effects. Soon I will learn to Import 3D model file and experiment with them.
Update #7 (3-27-24)
So far I have done several After Effects projects throughout 7 months. I’ve had great experience this program even if the the first few weeks were difficult and had no idea what to do but I learned and experimented on it and improved it. One of my main negatives is the bugs that After Effects has from time to time but I’m able to fix them in someway. My main positive is being able to learn more new effects and customize them.
Update #8 (5-9-24)
Now this is the last update of the Interactive Media website and I’m nearly finished with my third and final project. Now that were at the end, I like to say I have accomplish a lot from this program and the capstone project. From all the learning, I’ve could only three projects which isn’t a lot but for me it takes time. I’ve succeeded in Graphic Design and working well with After Effects. I enjoyed the creativity and the work I put in the projects.
